365 STYLE - NICKY HILTON'S NEW BOOK

Below an excerpt  from a WWD.com article on the release of Nicky Hilton's upcoming book.
I love Nicky's style and can't wait to read it.

I pre-ordered the Kindle edition (author's actually make more money) of Nicky Hilton's upcoming book; 365 Style.

(Source WWD.com ) Nicky Hilton, who has her first book out later this year with Harlequin, said that it will be one filled with style tips.

“It has all sorts of weird tips, tricks and stories, and weird packing things I do,” she said. “Like when I’m packing for a trip I pack everything in a clear plastic bag and need to see them. With a big tote, I don’t like when it loses its shape and gets crunchy so I fill it with tights, T-shirts and socks. It’s serious business.”

Nicky's correct; it is serious business, keeping your bags from losing their shape; especially when you're not using them.     Fortunately there's a better alternative to stuffing bags with  tights, tees, and socks.
Patent Pending, Save Our Shape aka SOS  preservers are inflatable purse stuffing pillows; that are easy and versatile.      Because  they're inflatable they  give you the flexibility and control, not found in other pocketbook pillows.
(inflate a little or a lot, mix and match, use vertical or horizontal. Inflation you can control!)

Other brands of purse stuffer insert pillows don't give, so they can be hard to to fit.    Their stuffing can absorb and hold smells.      Some require tossing in a dryer every month, AND replacing them every year.
That's not only a chore; it's also a huge waste time and money.

Having just packed up my son for his backpacking trip through Europe.  It's interesting that Nicky Hilton uses some of the same tricks I employ.
I also use clear zip close bags when I pack.    I packed two tee shirts inside each bag, so my son just has to pull out whichever one he wants to wear.   He has a tee for the day,and a change for the night.    The others stay folded, making it easier to stay organized; not having to rummage through a backpack  of jumbled clothes.
Boxers, socks, and toiletries are also packed separately.

Using clear zip lock bags, also makes everything easier to pack back up; should a Security or Customs  check require a look inside your luggage.

Save Our Shape ™ preservers are also great for travel, and can keep your bags from being crushed inside your luggage.    I've even used them as a pillow, on a flight to cushion my had against the window.

SIMPLE PROBLEMS, SIMPLY SOLVED

If you're like me and have a few handbags, you know it's a challenge to store them.
The enemies of leather are light, dust, and moisture.    Fortunately most of us live in climate controlled homes, so moisture isn't an issue.   We turn the heat on when it's cold, and the air conditioning when it's hot; and keep within a comfortable range of temperature.

Ideally, your handbags should be kept in dust bags, avoiding prolonged exposure to light.

I spoke directly to some of the Hermes craftspeople and asked them, just how I should be storing my bags; specifically the Birkins and Kelly's.     They advise to never store them in the  orange boxes.   Despite how fabulous these boxes look; they're not intended for handbag storage.  Bummer.
Birkins and Kelly's should be stored in their dust covers, resting flat on their backs, to prevent stress on the leather.   They can be stuffed with the air bags that  Hermes packs into each bag.

Those airbags are not the greatest.  They lose air over time, and  have no ability to shape, and conform to their handbags interior profiles.

I solved this problem by creating  Save Our Shape™ preservers, or S.O.S as I like to call them.
They can be inflated a little,or a lot; depending on the bag.  The silky sleeper bag helps them slip easily into your handbag.    Moisture isn't an issue (I have been using them for years now) and a little silica pack can be tucked inside for those living in more humid climates.
Save Our Shape™ preservers are patent pending, and  are currently available in four sizes.  x-small, small, medium and large  Use individually, or mix and match.

My latest creation is  Purseport™ ID tags.
Purseport™ tags saves time, eliminating the need to untie your dust bags just to see which bag it holds.    They have both front and back pockets, so you can slip in a photo (one of these days I'll get around to this) or receipts.   Included are two foldable cards, so you have four sides to record whatever info you need- and a silver ball chain.
