I created The Purse Snatcher® after experiencing a near crash. Slowing down to stop for a light, I was frantically trying to grab my purse as it was flying off the passenger seat to spill on the floor.
I swerved, as I reached for my purse; nearly losing control of my car before I stepped on the brakes.
Fortunately; there wasn't another car beside me, and this episode shook me up enough to vow, never again would I risk my life or someone else's on something as unimportant as a handbag.
And I should have know better; as many years ago my own life was shattered by a fatal distracted driving accident.
This was long before anyone had heard the term distracted driving; but that's exactly what it was that caused the loss life for one, and the lives of many; to change forever in the seconds it took to change a cassette in a tape deck.
I needed to find a way to protect my purse from being battered and scattered about the floor of my car, and something that would help me break my habit of automatically reaching out my arm to block my bag, when braking.
I knew I wanted something that didn't need to be removed or moved when someone sat in the passenger seat. Something that could be used in back seats too, so I wouldn't have to put my purse on the rear seat floor.
The products that were out there; just didn't work for me.
I didn't want to suspend my bag on a metal hook, that might indent the leather and put strain on my handles.
A product that requires a centre console, and only holds a very small purse didn't work for me either. There was also no way, I would cram and jam my purse behind the console in a hammock.
